Just Say Uncle

More pictures. Here is Harper attempting "tummy time." I am not really sure what this is but I keep hearing people refer to it so I figured I would throw her on her stomach and see what happened. Cute pictures ensued. Seriously though, tummy time is supposed to strengthen neck muscles and it looks like little Harper is doing just fine.

Not sure what to do...

I did it!
Harper has also had lots of visitors lately.

5 Weeks!

Harper is 5 weeks today!
Sorry for the influx of baby pictures. Taking pictures of her is my new hobby.
Last week we had our appointment with the GI doctor. She suggested that Harper could have an allergy to dairy and soy. Basically what this would mean is that I would have to give up all dairy and soy products. After the appointment, a dietitian was brought in to go over what exactly this new diet means for me. You would think to just cut out milk, cheese and soy sauce right? WRONG. I will basically starve. BUT I am willing to do whatever I need to if it will make her feel better. The doctor asked me to switch to formula for a week so that all the dairy and soy has time to get out of my system. She also switched Harper's medicine from Zantac to Prilosec.
So here is the problem. The doctor was seemingly suggesting this on a whim. There are no major signs that Harper actually has this allergy (she doesn't have any of the major symptoms). Luckily, I had an appointment scheduled with my pediatrician the next day so I could talk it through with him. It seemed odd to me to change so many things at once. Then we would never know what the problem was. So my pediatrician agreed with us and said to eat normal and just switch the meds for a few days to see if there is any improvement. He also wanted me to continue feeding her normally. After that, cut out major dairy (milk, cheese) and see if that helps. I am much more enthusiastic about this approach. The dietitian told me I couldn't even have food products that were produced in the same factory as dairy and soy. A bit extreme to me.

The medicine seems to be helping. She doesn't seem to be in pain after she eats which is good. I am cutting out major dairy (almond milk anyone?) and hopefully we will see a big improvement. I would hate to think that something I am eating is causing her to be in pain. Fingers crossed things get better soon!

Road Trip

This weekend we took our first family road trip all the way to Kerrville! Our friends Kristin and Matt got married so we packed up the car (with just about everything we could ever possibly need) and set off on Saturday morning. My mom was nice enough to meet us there, from San Antonio, to watch Harper at the hotel while we were at the ceremony and reception. We stopped a couple of times along the way to feed Harper and ourselves. Bluebonnet Cafe is my all time favorite spot. I always always order the chicken tenders with fried okra, green beans and french fries. Sub the cream gravy for brown gravy and doctor it up with Tabasco. Delish. If you are ever traveling along 281, it's a must.
The wedding was really beautiful. All of the details were perfect and everyone had a great time. We did a lot of dancing which was probably the first time I have danced in 10 months :) Needless to say, I was sore this morning! What a great workout. Here are pictures from the weekend!
Disclaimer: The following pictures from the car were taken while the car was in park. I did not pull a Britney and carry my child in a moving vehicle.

Getting burped after eating. Sweetest face.

Asleep in the car
Harper, Clark and I outside at the YO Ranch. Harper didn't attend the wedding but we dressed her up anyway. She hates to be left out.

Ok, this was one of the coolest things I have see. You get 7 seconds to do whatever you want and they take about 100 pictures of you. Then, they turn it into a flip book. Here are Haddy and Lindsay demonstrating. It was so much fun and such a unique idea!

Harper's Newborn Pics

As previously mentioned, my friend Wynne took some amazing pictures of Harper for her birth announcement. She has posted some of our favorites on her blog. You can check them out here. She did such a great job and I am so excited about the announcements that we picked out!
In other news, I got peed on for the first time last night. Awesome. I can't complain though, at least I made it a few weeks, Clark got peed on within the first couple of days.
Here are a couple of pics of Harper from last week. I will try to take some new ones this week.

3 Weeks!

Yesterday, Harper turned 3 weeks old! I can't believe how fast the last few weeks have gone, I only envision the next few years to fly by just as fast. Harper is doing great. She is growing and gaining the weight she needs to. However, our sweet little girl is having quite the battle with reflux. She is spitting up a lot after feedings and her pediatrician requested a sonogram for her. The radiologist found that she did indeed have severe reflux and we are now waiting for her appointment with a Gastroenterologist on April 20th (the soonest the could see her)...
Anyway, in the mean time, we have started using a pacifier, something that I wanted to avoid as long as possible. The doctors have recommended the use of it though to help soothe her after feedings. With reflux, if she continues to eat, it eases the burning so she has been overeating the last couple of weeks because she has the urge to suck. The pacifier has really helped significantly with her keeping some food down. Please pray for her and that her reflux eases.
Anyway, here are some pics from the last week. Enjoy!!!

Happy Easter!
