The Vail Pass.

Yay for Spring Break 2009 (SB2K9)!!! Yesterday, Lindsay, Haddy, Ed and I flew to EGE (Vail Eagle, regional Airport) for our March vacation. Sadly, Clark was not able to come with us, he needed to get some work done before we leave for DC next week. The flight was wide open so we were all able to sit with each other and we had an exit row so we could spread out. We made nice with flight attendant Teri and she talked us up during takeoff and landing. Teri has been flying for AA for about 30 years. She just seemed really fun and upbeat; kind of just wanted to put her in my pocket and take her with us. Once we arrived at the airport, we rented the car and began our journey to Dillon, CO. Ed pretending to vom in the bag

So, there's this "Pass..." If you drive past Vail on Highway 70 you have to travel on the "Vail Pass." It's this stretch of road that winds around the mountains that is certain to be covered in snow and ice. It was dark and scary. The car was silent providing plenty of concentration for Ed to drive. After about 2 hours of driving in thick snow, we arrived at our house. After dropping off our bags, we went to the Dillon Dam Brewery and attempted to salvage the night. We had a round of soco and lime and some local beer (and dinner) but the night was cut short by the "altitude" (side note, if you are ever anywhere in high elevation, you can blame ANYTHING on the altitude). We were all exhausted and went to bed.

The next morning, we woke up and Ed had graciously gone out and procured some bagels and OJ for us. We ate and then prepared for the day. We ventured out towards a fun outlet that we passed on the way in the night before. The Columbia Outlet was amazing. Like everything was 30% off of the lowest marked price. I would buy a flight just to come and shop here. I bought two fleeces, a ski jacket and some ear muffs...$70. SEVENTY DOLLARS. We were all so elated. After that, we headed back on "the pass" toward Vail for a day of shopping and good eats.

We walked around for a while and then ate at Blu's. It was delicious. We caught wind of the big storm that is supposed to hit tonight and tomorrow so we decided to head back to Dillon to pick up our groceries and get settled in our house. Apparently, we are supposed to get several inches of snow tonight and about a foot of snow tomorrow. That's a whole lot of snow. We are waiting on Cody and Ryan to get in tonight. They were already delayed due to weather at DFW and now they are going to have to maneuver "the pass." We are hopeful that "the pass" remains open for the remainder of the night and are able to make to the house.
